The Method

Step 1 - Get In Touch

Contact Brian—using contact form, email, or phone—to discuss the piece you are looking to have crafted. It may be necessary for Brian to send a detailed questionnaire to get to know more about you; this will help with design choices and overall quote. Feel free to request an in-person consultation to discuss wood choices, finish options, and overall planning of the project. Heartwood Furniture Co. makes every effort to respond to all queries within 24 - 48 hours.

Step 2: The Estimate

Brian will provide a free estimated cost of the project. If the estimate sounds appropriate for your budget, you will move forward together to the design stage. Design and consultations can take time, a non-refundable $100 consultation fee will be required to reserve time—payment signifies approval to move to the next step (consultation fee will be applied to the final cost of the project).

Step 3: The Design and Agreement

There are many decisions to make when designing and building custom furniture. Brian will be in contact to discuss design elements, material choices, and finishes. For larger projects, an in-person consultation may be necessary. Once all the details are locked-in; Brian will draw up an aggreement that provides details of the build and final quote for services. Once the agreement is approved and signed, a 50% deposit is required to confirm your place in our project queue.

Step 4: The Build

This is where your design takes shape—your ideas come to life. Brian believes it is important that you are involved in the creation process. To this end, Brian is happy to send progress photos, and discuss the project at any point during the build. As the project comes to a close, Brian will be in contact to discuss a pick-up or delivery date.
